Biodiesel Price in America Reaches $1,918 per Ton, Surging 41% from January
U.S. Biodiesel Import Price per Ton July 2022
In July 2022, the biodiesel price per ton stood at $1,918, increasing by 3% against the previous month. Over the last six months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +5.9%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 an increase of 22% against the previous month. The import price peaked in July 2022.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2022, the country with the highest price was Canada ($1,984 per ton), while the price for South Korea stood at $1,604 per ton.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Canada (+5.1%).
U.S. Biodiesel Imports
In July 2022, the amount of biodiesel imported into the United States reduced rapidly to 33K tons, waning by -34.2% against June 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 485% m-o-m. As a result, imports reached the peak of 105K tons. From April 2022 to July 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, biodiesel imports contracted remarkably to $63M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. In general, imports recorded a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 443% month-to-month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $163M. From April 2022 to July 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
U.S. Biodiesel Imports by Country
In July 2022, Canada (27K tons) constituted the largest supplier of biodiesel to the United States, with a 81% share of total imports. Moreover, biodiesel imports from Canada exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, South Korea (6K tons), fourfold.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from Canada amounted to +2.5%.
In value terms, Canada ($53M) constituted the largest supplier of biodiesel to the United States, comprising 84% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($9.7M), with a 15% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value from Canada amounted to +7.7%.
