Amazon CEO Andy Jassy Forecasts $600 Billion Annual Run Rate for AWS Driven by AI

According to a report from Yahoo Finance, Amazon has evolved from a digital bookseller into the world's largest retailer. The company is also a significant player in digital advertising and cloud computing.

Amazon Web Services, the firm's cloud segment, is considered its most profitable operation. In 2025, this division generated revenue of $128.7 billion, representing an increase of 20% compared to the prior year. This figure constituted 18% of Amazon's total revenue and 57% of its operating income. The final quarter of that year marked the third straight period of accelerating sales growth for the segment.

In a recent company meeting, CEO Andy Jassy shared his outlook for AWS. He stated that before the rise of artificial intelligence, he anticipated the cloud business reaching $300 billion in annual sales within a decade. Jassy now believes the demand for AI tools and services could allow AWS to achieve at least double that amount, suggesting a potential annual run rate of $600 billion.

Jassy also addressed plans for substantial capital expenditures, indicating that cloud capacity is being monetized as quickly as it is installed. The company is expanding its data center infrastructure to meet existing demand.

If AWS achieves the $600 billion benchmark outlined by its CEO, the implications for Amazon's investors could be significant.
