AIM Group and Entopy Selected for Offshore Wind AI Development Program

According to offshoreWIND.biz, a program backed by Digital Catapult, the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, and Orsted has chosen two companies to create AI solutions for offshore wind operations and maintenance. The selected firms, AIM Group and Entopy, were picked via the Digital Innovation Challenge to refine their existing digital tools for use in the wind sector.

The challenge began in September 2025 to meet rising demand for efficient maintenance solutions as more offshore wind assets become operational. It focuses on applying data and digital technologies to enhance asset performance and operational decisions.

AIM Group will work on an AI system for structural risk management intended to identify early defects and forecast their development. Entopy will progress its operational intelligence platform, which helps operators see how disruptions spread through complex systems and affect performance.

Both companies will get six months of support, including technical advice and sector-specific guidance, from the Catapult organizations. The program involves collaboration with Orsted, which may offer chances to test the technologies at its UK offshore wind sites.

An Orsted innovation lead stated that the company's extensive operating fleet holds data potential that AI can access. The official added that the challenge revealed a wide range of UK-developed solutions and that working closely with AIM Group and Entopy will provide deeper asset insights and better decision-making. The support is expected to help the companies refine their products for the offshore wind market.
