Price for Natural Rubber and Gum in Italy (CIF) - 2023
The average natural rubber and gum import price stood at $1,789 per ton in June 2023, rising by 6.7% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 14% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2,001 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to June 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Malaysia ($1,717 per ton) and Guatemala ($1,561 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($1,404 per ton) and Cameroon ($1,428 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Guatemala (-1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average natural rubber and gum export price stood at $3,114 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 27% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 33%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3,117 per ton in 2014; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($16,117 per ton), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($1,605 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+42.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Imports of Natural Rubber and Gum in Italy
In 2022, the amount of natural rubber and gums imported into Italy rose significantly to 26K tons, picking up by 15% on the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.7% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 31% against the previous year.
