In 2022, the average import price for candies, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery amounted to $2,589 per ton, with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($3,953 per ton), while the price for Uzbekistan ($540 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for candies, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery amounted to $1,848 per ton, increasing by 51% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,975 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kyrgyzstan ($2,183 per ton), while the average price for exports to Uzbekistan ($1,341 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Candy, Sweets, and Nonchocolate Confectionery in Kazakhstan
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of candies, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery decreased by -7.2% to 41K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 18%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 44K tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, candy, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery imports soared to $106M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.3% over the last three years.
