The average mandarins import price stood at $1,271 per ton in 2022, picking up by 2.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $2,015 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Australia ($1,526 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($425 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Egypt (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Mandarins Imports in Oman
In 2022, overseas purchases of fruit, edible decreased by -9.7% to 25K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 146%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 32K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, mandarins imports fell to $32M in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 167%.
