France's Shampoo Price Increases to $3,408 per Ton

France Shampoo Export Price in November 2022

In November 2022, the shampoo price stood at $3,408 per ton (FOB, France), increasing by 2.1% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to November 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 6.4% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $3,567 per ton in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to November 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($5,068 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($2,639 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

France Shampoo Exports

In November 2022, overseas shipments of shampoos were finally on the rise to reach 16K tons for the first time since August 2022, thus ending a two-month declining trend. Overall, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2022 with an increase of 14% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 19K tons in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to November 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, shampoo exports rose sharply to $56M (IndexBox estimates) in November 2022. The total export value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the period from January 2022 to November 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 with an increase of 18% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 59K tons in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to November 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

France Shampoo Exports by Country

Germany (2.9K tons), Belgium (2.5K tons) and the UK (2.5K tons) were the main destinations of shampoo exports from France, with a combined 49% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Italy, Spain, Poland, Turkey, Sweden, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Greece, which together accounted for a further 39%.

From January 2022 to November 2022, the biggest increases were in Turkey (with a CAGR of +17.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($8.8M), Belgium ($7.7M) and the UK ($6.7M) constituted the largest markets for shampoo exported from France worldwide, together accounting for 41% of total exports. These countries were followed by Spain, Italy, Poland, Turkey, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Denmark and Greece, which together accounted for a further 36%.

Among the main countries of destination, Turkey, with a CAGR of +16.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
