Coniferous Roundwood Exports

In 2022, overseas shipments of roundwood (coniferous) decreased by X% to X cubic meters, falling for the third year in a row after two years of growth. Overall, exports recorded a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the global exports hit record highs at X cubic meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, coniferous roundwood exports declined markedly to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

Exports by Country

New Zealand represented the main exporter of roundwood (coniferous) in the world, with the volume of exports amounting to X cubic meters, which was approx. X% of total exports in 2022. The Czech Republic (X cubic meters) took a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Germany (X%), Norway (X%), Belgium (X%) and the United States (X%). Canada (X cubic meters), Poland (X cubic meters), the Netherlands (X cubic meters), Uruguay (X cubic meters) and Sweden (X cubic meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.

New Zealand experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of roundwood (coniferous).
