The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2020; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Global exports peaked in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, plastic box exports totaled $X in 2020. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the period from 2007 to 2020; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Global exports peaked in 2020 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

The shipments of the twelve major exporters of plastic boxes, cases, crates and similar packing articles, namely the U.S., China, Germany, Mexico, France, the Netherlands, Spain, South Korea, Poland, the UK, Turkey and Italy, represented more than two-thirds of total export. Belgium (X tonnes) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Mexico, while exports for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. Global export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was China ($X per tonne), while Turkey ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
