Carbon Electrode Exports

For the third year in a row, the global market recorded growth in shipments abroad of carbon electrodes, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by X% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The global exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, carbon electrode exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports enjoyed a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the global exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) was the major exporter of carbon electrodes, generating X% of total exports. The Netherlands (X tons) held a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Norway (X%). The following exporters - Iceland (X tons), Spain (X tons), Poland (X tons) and France (X tons) - each finished at an X% share of total exports.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Iceland (X%), Poland (X%) and France (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iceland emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. Spain, the Netherlands and Norway experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest carbon electrode supplier worldwide, comprising X% of global exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with a X% share of global exports. It was followed by France, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to X%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Spain (X% per year) and France (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average carbon electrode export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (X%), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, global imports of carbon electrodes surged to X tons, growing by X% compared with the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, global imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, carbon electrode imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed moderate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of global imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of carbon electrode imports in 2022 were Iceland (X tons), Norway (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Canada (X tons) and Russia (X tons), together amounting to X% of total import. Iran (X tons), the United States (X tons), Sweden (X tons), Germany (X tons), India (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Bahrain (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest carbon electrode importing markets worldwide were Canada ($X), Russia ($X) and Iceland ($X), together accounting for X% of global imports. The United Arab Emirates, Norway, Iran, the United States, Turkey, Germany, India, Sweden and Bahrain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

Bahrain, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average carbon electrode import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of X% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a modest expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
