Exports in Western Africa
In 2022, overseas shipments of zinc dust, powders and flakes (excluding zinc dust powders or flakes prepared as colours, paints or the like, zinc pellets) increased by X% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, showed a dramatic contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, zinc powder exports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a precipitous descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by X%.
