Exports in Western Africa

After two years of growth, shipments abroad of transmission apparatus incorporating reception apparatus decreased by X% to X units in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a deep setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports from Nigeria decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Mali (X%), Sierra Leone (X%) and Liberia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Mali emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Western Africa, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Senegal (X%), Ghana (X%) and Cote d'Ivoire (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Sierra Leone, Senegal and Liberia increased by X, X, X, X and X percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of transmission apparatus incorporating reception apparatus decreased by X% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, transmission apparatus imports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.
