Exports in Western Africa

In 2022, shipments abroad of potato chips increased by X% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, potato chips exports dropped dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Nigeria (X tons) was the key exporter of potato chips, making up X% of total exports. Gambia (X tons) took a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Ghana (X%) and Senegal (X%). Niger (X kg) took a minor share of total exports.
