Exports of Jute And Jute-Like Fibers

Exports in Western Africa

In 2022, approx. X tons of jute and jute-like fibers were exported in Western Africa; picking up by X% on the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, jute and jute-like fibers exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a pronounced shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Togo was the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which reached X% of total exports. Gambia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Mali (X%). Liberia (X tons), Nigeria (X tons) and Senegal (X tons) took a little share of total exports.

Exports from Togo increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Gambia (X%), Nigeria (X%) and Senegal (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, jute and jute-like fibers imports shrank slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
