Cote d'Ivoire was also the fastest-growing in terms of the gin and geneva exports, with a CAGR of +36.3% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Nigeria (+18.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Ghana (-31.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Cote d'Ivoire (+87 p.p.) and Nigeria (+1.9 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Ghana saw its share reduced by -90.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Cote d'Ivoire ($X) remains the largest gin and geneva supplier in Western Africa, comprising 87% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Nigeria ($X), with a 3.3% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Cote d'Ivoire totaled +32.9%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Nigeria (+34.7% per year) and Ghana (-45.5% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Western Africa amounted to $X per litre, picking up by 7.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 173%. Total imports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +71.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 79% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X litres, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, Togo ($X), Ghana ($X) and Benin ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 79% share of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, Ghana, with a CAGR of +17.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
