Exports in Western Africa

After two years of decline, overseas shipments of extracts and juices of meat, fish, crustaceans and molluscs increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a precipitous curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, meat and fish extracts exports stood at $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Benin represented the largest exporting country with an export of about X kg, which reached X% of total exports. Ghana (X kg) took a X% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Nigeria (X%).

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Benin (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

For the third year in a row, Western Africa recorded growth in supplies from abroad of extracts and juices of meat, fish, crustaceans and molluscs, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports showed temperate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by X%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, meat and fish extracts imports fell sharply to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a mild setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
