Citrus Fruit Exports

Exports in Western Africa

After two years of growth, overseas shipments of citrus fruits decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, citrus fruit exports dropped to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Ghana represented the key exporter of citrus fruits in Western Africa, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near X% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Cote d'Ivoire (X tons), comprising a X% share of total exports.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
