Exports in Western Africa
In 2022, overseas shipments of aluminium tubes and pipes were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, aluminium tube exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a deep downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Nigeria (X tons) was the main exporter of aluminium tubes and pipes, achieving X% of total exports. Cote d'Ivoire (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a X% share, followed by Senegal (X%). Ghana (X kg) took a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Senegal (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
