For the third year in a row, the Vietnamese tilapias market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by X% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a deep downturn. For the third year in a row, Vietnam recorded decline in shipments abroad of tilapias, which decreased by -X% to X tons in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, tilapias exports fell to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, posted strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

South Korea (X tons), the Dominican Republic (X tons) and the United States (X tons) were the main destinations of tilapias exports from Vietnam, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Malaysia, Italy, Togo, Thailand, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, which together accounted for a further X 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Dominican Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, approx. X tons of tilapias were imported into Vietnam; shrinking by -X% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, tilapias imports contracted notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
