In 2022, shipments abroad of oil crops (primary) decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, exports, however, saw a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, oil crops exports reduced notably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
China (X tons) was the main destination for oil crops exports from Vietnam, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, oil crops exports to China exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Thailand (X tons), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Cambodia (X tons), with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to China amounted to X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (X% per year) and Cambodia (X% per year).

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of oil crops (primary) decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
