In 2020, after four years of decline, there was significant growth in the Vietnamese imitation jewellery market, when its value increased by X% to $X. In 2020, exports of imitation jewellery from Vietnam declined remarkably to X tons, which is down by -X% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports, however, posted a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, imitation jewellery exports dropped notably to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2012 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at $X in 2019, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

The United States (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main destinations of imitation jewellery exports from Vietnam, together comprising X% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Austria (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United States ($X), Austria ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for imitation jewellery exported from Vietnam worldwide, together comprising X% of total exports. These countries were followed by Singapore, the UK, Belgium, South Korea, Peru and Malaysia, which together accounted for a further X the main countries of destination, Peru (+X% per year) saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average imitation jewellery export price stood at $X per ton in 2020, waning by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate notable growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011 an increase of X% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, imitation jewellery imports shrank markedly to $X in 2020. In general, imports, however, showed a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

France (X tons), Germany (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of imitation jewellery imports to Vietnam, with a combined X% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Taiwan (Chinese), Austria, Italy, Spain, South Korea, the United States, Portugal, the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka and Thailand, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Italy (+X% per year), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of imitation jewellery to Vietnam, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Italy ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value from China totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+X% per year) and France (+X% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average imitation jewellery import price stood at $X per ton in 2020, which is down by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
