In 2020, the amount of hazelnuts exported from Vietnam amounted to X tonnes, stabilizing at the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2012 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. The average hazelnut export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, remaining stable against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was China ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR stood at $X per tonne.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+X%).

In 2020, purchases abroad of hazelnuts was finally on the rise to reach X tonnes for the first time since 2017, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, saw a perceptible reduction. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, hazelnut imports skyrocketed to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a slight descent. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United States (X tonnes), Hong Kong SAR (X tonnes) and Georgia (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of hazelnut imports to Vietnam, together comprising X% of total imports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Georgia (+X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, the largest hazelnut suppliers to Vietnam were the United States ($X), Hong Kong SAR ($X) and Georgia ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, Georgia, with a CAGR of +X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

Import Prices by Country

The average hazelnut import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, increasing by X% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated moderate growth from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2020, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per tonne), while the price for Georgia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hong Kong SAR (+X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
