Carpet Exports

Exports from Vietnam

In 2022, after seven years of growth, there was decline in shipments abroad of carpets and other textile floor coverings, when their volume decreased by X% to X square meters. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X square meters in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, carpet exports shrank to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

Exports by Country

Taiwan (Chinese) (X square meters), Lebanon (X square meters) and Tunisia (X square meters) were the main destinations of carpet exports from Vietnam, together comprising X% of total exports. Georgia, Argentina, French Polynesia, South Korea, the Philippines and Japan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for French Polynesia (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of carpets and other textile floor coverings increased by X% to X square meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, recorded a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X square meters. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, carpet imports stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X square meters) constituted the largest supplier of carpet to Vietnam, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, carpet imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Japan (X square meters), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Thailand (X square meters), with a X% share.

In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Thailand ($X per square meter) and China ($X per square meter), while the price for Japan ($X per square meter) and Malaysia ($X per square meter) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
