Imports by Country
In 2021, Brazil (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of silicon-electrical steel flat-rolled product to Venezuela, accounting for a 36% share of total imports. Moreover, silicon-electrical steel flat-rolled product imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Mexico (X tons), twofold. France (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 16% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Brazil amounted to -13.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mexico (-9.5% per year) and France (-15.3% per year).
In value terms, the largest silicon-electrical steel flat-rolled product suppliers to Venezuela were Brazil ($X), Mexico ($X) and the United States ($X), together comprising 76% of total imports. These countries were followed by France, Germany, Panama and Italy, which together accounted for a further 16%.
Among the main suppliers, Panama, with a CAGR of +21.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline.
Import Prices by Country
The average silicon-electrical steel flat-rolled product import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 12% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, silicon-electrical steel flat-rolled product import price increased by +80.7% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average import price increased by 21%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+16.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
