Kazakhstan (X tons) was the main destination for glass fiber exports from Uzbekistan, with a 71% share of total exports. Moreover, glass fiber exports to Kazakhstan exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Kyrgyzstan (X tons), fourfold. Tajikistan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Kazakhstan amounted to +80.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kyrgyzstan (+94.5% per year) and Tajikistan (+713.8% per year).

In value terms, Kazakhstan ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for glass fiber exports from Uzbekistan, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kyrgyzstan ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Tajikistan, with a 7.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Kazakhstan amounted to +97.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kyrgyzstan (+118.3% per year) and Tajikistan (+614.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average glass fiber export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 89% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted pronounced growth. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the highest price was recorded for prices to Turkmenistan ($X per ton) and Tajikistan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) and Kazakhstan ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkmenistan (+58.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of voiles, webs, mats and other articles of glass fibers decreased by -5.3% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 78%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, glass fiber imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 120%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Moreover, glass fiber imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Turkey (X tons), with a 2.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Russia amounted to +24.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+1.3% per year) and Turkey (+18.7% per year).

In value terms, Russia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of glass fiber to Uzbekistan, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 4.7% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Russia amounted to +24.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+0.8% per year) and Turkey (+26.1% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average glass fiber import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 18% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 27%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while the price for Belarus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+6.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
