Overall, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2017 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last four years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +83.6% against 2019 indices. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country
Ukraine (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons) and Tajikistan (X tons) were the main destinations of fertilizer exports from Uzbekistan, together comprising 28% of total exports. These countries were followed by China, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Indonesia and Kazakhstan, which together accounted for a further 10%.
From 2017 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Bulgaria (with a CAGR of +164.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Ukraine ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for fertilizers exports from Uzbekistan, comprising 13% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Tajikistan ($X), with a 6% share of total exports. It was followed by Kyrgyzstan, with a 5.4% share.
From 2017 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Ukraine stood at +25.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tajikistan (+7.8% per year) and Kyrgyzstan (+9.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average fertilizer export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 37% against the previous year. Over the period from 2017 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +10.7%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Greece ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkmenistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+23.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Uzbekistan
In 2021, purchases abroad of fertilizers decreased by -87.7% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 11,772%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

Imports by Country
In 2021, Russia (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of fertilizer to Uzbekistan, with a 22% share of total imports. Moreover, fertilizer imports from Russia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Turkey (X tons), fourfold. Lithuania (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Russia totaled +222.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+162.0% per year) and Lithuania (+98.4% per year).
In value terms, the largest fertilizer suppliers to Uzbekistan were Russia ($X), Lithuania ($X) and Turkey ($X), with a combined 29% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Poland, Saudi Arabia, China, Israel and Kazakhstan, which together accounted for a further 4.5%.
Among the main suppliers, Israel, with a CAGR of +494.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average fertilizer import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 90% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a abrupt descent. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Lithuania ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+39.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
