Preserved Asparagus Market Size in the UK

In value terms, preserved asparagus exports soared to $X in 2020. In general, exports, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, exports reached the peak of $X. from 2009 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Iceland (X tonnes) was the main destination for preserved asparagus exports from the UK, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, preserved asparagus exports to Iceland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Ireland (X tonnes), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by India (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Iceland totaled -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Ireland (-X% per year) and India (X% per year).

In value terms, Iceland ($X), Ireland ($X) and Hungary ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for preserved asparagus exported from the UK worldwide, with a combined X% share of total exports.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Hungary saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2020, the average preserved asparagus export price amounted to $X per tonne, increasing by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a temperate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Iceland ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+X% per year), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fourth year in a row, the UK recorded decline in supplies from abroad of preserved asparagus, which decreased by -X% to X tonnes in 2020. In general, imports showed a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, preserved asparagus imports contracted significantly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, imports recorded a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

Spain (X tonnes), Peru (X tonnes) and China (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of preserved asparagus imports to the UK, with a combined X% share of total imports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China, while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, Spain ($X) constituted the largest supplier of preserved asparagus to the UK, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Peru ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a X% share.
