Exports from the UK

In 2022, shipments abroad of mercuries decreased by X% to X kg for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, exports saw a precipitous contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, mercury exports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Australia (X kg), Germany (X kg) and Japan (X kg) were the main destinations of mercury exports from the UK, with a combined X% share of total exports. Moreover, mercury exports in Australia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest exporter, Germany, twofold.
