From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Spain amounted to +14.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (-17.8% per year) and Oman (-1.4% per year).

In 2021, the average cane molasses export price amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -26.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, purchases abroad of cane molasses decreased by -13.9% to X tons, falling for the eighth consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports recorded a precipitous slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 134% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, cane molasses imports fell dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a dramatic descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 173% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, India (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of cane molasses to the United Arab Emirates, accounting for a 72% share of total imports. Moreover, cane molasses imports from India exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Egypt (X tons), sixfold. Pakistan (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from India totaled -46.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Egypt (-4.6% per year) and Pakistan (-50.1% per year).

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from India stood at -41.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Egypt (-8.2% per year) and Jordan (-53.7% per year).

In 2021, the average cane molasses import price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -4.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 70%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton, and then dropped in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Jordan ($X per ton), while the price for Pakistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahrain (+83.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
