Exports from Ukraine

In 2022, approx. X litres of whisky were exported from Ukraine; falling by X% against the previous year. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X litres in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, whisky exports shrank rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Germany (X litres) was the main destination for whisky exports from Ukraine, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, whisky exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Switzerland (X litres), ninefold.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany amounted to X%.

In value terms, Germany ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for whisky exports from Ukraine, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Switzerland ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Germany amounted to $X per litre.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

After six years of growth, supplies from abroad of whisky decreased by X% to X litres in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X litres, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, whisky imports declined sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, the UK (X litres) constituted the largest supplier of whisky to Ukraine, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, whisky imports from the UK exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Ireland (X litres), threefold. The United States (X litres) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the UK was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Ireland (X% per year) and the United States (X% per year).

From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Ireland ($X per litre) and Germany ($X per litre), while the price for the United States ($X per litre) and the UK ($X per litre) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (X%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
