For the fifth year in a row, the Ukrainian sorghum market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by X% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption continues to indicate modest growth. Despite the increased use of modern agricultural techniques and methods, future yield figures may still be impacted by adverse weather conditions.

The sorghum harvested area in Ukraine reached X ha in 2022, surging by X% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, the harvested area, however, faced a abrupt setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the harvested area increased by X%. Sorghum Exports

Exports from Ukraine

In 2022, the amount of sorghum exported from Ukraine skyrocketed to X tons, rising by X% on the previous year. In general, exports, however, saw a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Israel (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. X tons of sorghum were imported into Ukraine; shrinking by X% on 2021 figures. In general, imports recorded a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, sorghum imports dropped rapidly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a sharp descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Moldova (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of sorghum to Ukraine, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, sorghum imports from Moldova exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), sixfold.
