The smallest decline of -0.8% was in 2016. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, acetic acid exports fell markedly to $X in 2021. In general, exports faced a sharp contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 5.3%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Cyprus (X kg) was the main destination for acetic acid exports from Ukraine, accounting for a 91% share of total exports. Moreover, acetic acid exports to Cyprus exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Malta (X kg), more than tenfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Cyprus totaled -51.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malta (0.0% per year) and Switzerland (-65.0% per year).
In value terms, Cyprus ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for acetic acid exports from Ukraine, comprising 94% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Switzerland ($X), with a 3.1% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Cyprus totaled -50.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Switzerland (-65.2% per year) and Malta (0.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average acetic acid export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +8.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, acetic acid export price increased by +100.1% against 2012 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Cyprus ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Malta ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+18.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of acetic acid, when their volume increased by 30% to X tons. In general, imports showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 78%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, acetic acid imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 91%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Serbia (X tons), China (X tons) and Russia (X tons) were the main suppliers of acetic acid imports to Ukraine, with a combined 80% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +93.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of acetic acid to Ukraine, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Serbia ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +104.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Serbia (+8.6% per year) and the United States (+50.0% per year).

The average acetic acid import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 46% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for Russia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
