Wrapping Papers Market Size in the U.S.

The U.S. wrapping papers market reached $X in 2020, surging by X% against the previous year. Overall, consumption recorded perceptible growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X% year-to-year. In general, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2011 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, wrapping papers exports fell to $X in 2020. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2020; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Canada (X tonnes), Mexico (X tonnes) and China (X tonnes) were the main destinations of wrapping papers exports from the U.S., with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Colombia, Thailand and India, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Thailand, while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for wrapping papers exported from the U.S. were Canada ($X), Mexico ($X) and China ($X), together comprising X% of total exports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Colombia and India, which together accounted for a further X the main countries of destination, Thailand saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average wrapping papers export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, declining by -X% against the previous year. Over the period from 2007 to 2020, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average export prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2019, and then fell in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Colombia ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into the U.S.

Wrapping papers imports into the U.S. was estimated at X tonnes in 2020, therefore, remained relatively stable against 2019. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wrapping papers imports shrank modestly to $X in 2020. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern.
