In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for salicylic acid and its salts exports from the United States, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Mexico, with a 6.6% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Canada stood at +18.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+80.2% per year) and Mexico (+1.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average salicylic acid export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 214% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a remarkable increase. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Salicylic Acid Imports

Imports into the U.S.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of salicylic acid and its salts increased by 7.9% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 14%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons.
