Orange Juice Market Size in the U.S.

The revenue of the orange juice market in the U.S. amounted to $X in 2018, increasing by X% against the previous year. In general, orange juice consumption continues to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the market value increased by X% year-to-year. In that year, the orange juice market reached its peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2018, the growth of the orange juice market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, orange juice exports reached their maximum at X tonnes in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.

In value terms, orange juice exports stood at $X in 2018. In general, orange juice exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, orange juice exports reached their peak figure at $X in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2018, exports failed to regain their momentum.

Exports by Country

Canada (X tonnes) was the main destination for orange juice exports from the U.S., accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, orange juice exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X tonnes), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by South Korea (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual growth rate of volume to Canada stood at -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+X% per year) and South Korea (+X% per year).

In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for orange juice exports from the U.S., comprising X% of total orange juice exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the Netherlands ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by South Korea, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Canada stood at -X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+X% per year) and South Korea (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the average orange juice export price amounted to $X per tonne, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price indicated a tangible increase from 2007 to 2018: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, orange juice export price decreased by -X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices for orange juice reached their peak figure at $X per tonne in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2018, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was the Dominican Republic ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Costa Rica ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Orange Juice Imports

Imports into the U.S.

In 2018, approx. X tonnes of orange juice were imported into the U.S.; jumping by X% against the previous year. Overall, orange juice imports continue to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, orange juice imports reached their maximum in 2018 and are likely to continue its growth in the near future.

In value terms, orange juice imports stood at $X in 2018. Overall, the total imports indicated a modest increase from 2007 to 2018: its value increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, orange juice imports increased by +X% against 2009 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, orange juice imports attained their maximum at $X in 2017, and then declined slightly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2018, Brazil (X tonnes) constituted the largest supplier of orange juice to the U.S., with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, orange juice imports from Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Mexico (X tonnes), threefold.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Brazil stood at +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Mexico (+X% per year) and Costa Rica (-X% per year).

In value terms, Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Costa Rica ($X) were the largest orange juice suppliers to the U.S., with a combined X% share of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, Mexico experienced the highest rates of growth with regard to imports, over the last eleven years, while the other leaders experienced a decline.

Import Prices by Country

The average orange juice import price stood at $X per tonne in 2018, shrinking by -X% against the previous year. In general, the orange juice import price continues to indicate a drastic curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2010 an increase of X% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2018, import prices failed to regain their momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($X per tonne), while the price for Brazil ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
