The U.S. non-knitted men apparel market soared to $X in 2021, surging by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a mild setback. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, overseas shipments of men's or boys' clothing (not knitted or crocheted) increased by 29% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, saw a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 58% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-knitted men apparel exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a noticeable slump. The exports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Canada (X units) was the main destination for non-knitted men apparel exports from the United States, accounting for a 32% share of total exports. Moreover, non-knitted men apparel exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Mexico (X units), threefold. Japan (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Canada totaled -1.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (-11.4% per year) and Japan (-0.6% per year).

In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for non-knitted men apparel exports from the United States, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Mexico ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a 5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Canada was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (-5.8% per year) and Japan (-3.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average non-knitted men apparel export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, falling by -9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 48%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-knitted men apparel imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a mild decline. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Bangladesh (X units), China (X units) and Vietnam (X units) were the main suppliers of non-knitted men apparel imports to the United States, together comprising 55% of total imports. Mexico, Pakistan, Nicaragua, Indonesia, India, Egypt, Cambodia and Kenya lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Kenya (with a CAGR of +10.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
