The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, blanket exports totaled $X in 2021. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
Canada (X units) was the main destination for blanket exports from the United States, accounting for a 57% share of total exports. Moreover, blanket exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Mexico (X units), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the UK (X units), with a 4.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Canada stood at +6.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (+8.3% per year) and the UK (+6.0% per year).
In value terms, Canada ($X) remains the key foreign market for blanket exports from the United States, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mexico ($X), with a 6.8% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Canada stood at +7.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Mexico (+6.5% per year) and the UK (+4.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average blanket export price amounted to $X per unit, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 18% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Mexico ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into the U.S.
For the tenth year in a row, the United States recorded growth in overseas purchases of blankets and traveling rugs (except electric blankets), which increased by 27% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a strong expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, blanket imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +133.1% against 2012 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest blanket supplier to the United States, accounting for a 83% share of total imports. Moreover, blanket imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, India (X units), tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Pakistan (X units), with a 3.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +14.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+8.3% per year) and Pakistan (+8.2% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of blanket to the United States, comprising 81% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with a 7.9% share of total imports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 2.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from China stood at +10.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+6.8% per year) and Vietnam (+73.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average blanket import price stood at $X per unit in 2021, growing by 11% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced slump. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while the price for Pakistan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (-1.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
