As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Belgium (X tons), Canada (X tons) and Mexico (X tons) were the main destinations of activated carbon exports from the United States, with a combined 52% share of total exports. China, South Korea, India, Japan, the UK, Brazil, Malaysia, Singapore, the Netherlands and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +15.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($X), Canada ($X) and Belgium ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for activated carbon exported from the United States worldwide, with a combined 53% share of total exports. South Korea, China, Poland, Brazil, India, Japan, Singapore, the UK, the Netherlands and Malaysia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 35%.
Poland, with a CAGR of +21.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average activated carbon export price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 22% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.4%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports into the U.S.

As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, activated carbon imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +59.4% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
India (X tons), Sri Lanka (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) were the main suppliers of activated carbon imports to the United States, with a combined 57% share of total imports. Australia, China, Canada, Mexico, Germany and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Australia (with a CAGR of +22.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, India ($X), Sri Lanka ($X) and the Philippines ($X) appeared to be the largest activated carbon suppliers to the United States, with a combined 54% share of total imports. China, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Germany and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.
Australia, with a CAGR of +26.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average activated carbon import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 12% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
