In value terms, wood charcoal exports stood at $X in 2018. Over the period under review, wood charcoal exports, however, continue to indicate extraordinary growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, wood charcoal exports reached their peak figure in 2018 and are expected to retain its growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Iraq (X tonnes), Palestine (X tonnes) and Germany (X tonnes) were the main destinations of wood charcoal exports from Turkey, together accounting for X% of total exports. These countries were followed by Slovenia, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Azerbaijan, Kuwait, Belgium, Lebanon and Syrian Arab Republic, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Belgium (+X% per year), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for wood charcoal exported from Turkey were Germany ($X), Iraq ($X) and Palestine ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Lebanon, Belgium, Portugal and Syrian Arab Republic, which together accounted for a further X (+X% per year) experienced the highest growth rate of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the last eleven-year period, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2018, the average wood charcoal export price amounted to $X per tonne, growing by X% against the previous year. In general, the wood charcoal export price continues to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2012 an increase of X% year-to-year. The export price peaked in 2018 and is likely to continue its growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Portugal ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Syrian Arab Republic, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, wood charcoal imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2012 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, wood charcoal imports reached their peak figure at X tonnes in 2017, and then declined slightly in the following year.

In value terms, wood charcoal imports amounted to $X in 2018. Over the period under review, wood charcoal imports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at $X in 2017, and then declined slightly in the following year.

Imports by Country

Cuba (X tonnes), Nigeria (X tonnes) and Indonesia (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of wood charcoal imports to Turkey, with a combined X% share of total imports.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Nigeria (+X% per year), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Indonesia ($X), Cuba ($X) and Malaysia ($X) constituted the largest wood charcoal suppliers to Turkey, together comprising X% of total imports. In 2018, the average wood charcoal import price amounted to $X per tonne, declining by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price indicated a buoyant increase from 2007 to 2018: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, wood charcoal import price decreased by -X% against 2014 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the average import price increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average import prices for wood charcoal reached their maximum at $X per tonne in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per tonne), while the price for Egypt ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ukraine, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
