T-Shirt Market Size in Turkey

The Turkish t-shirt market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2020, after two years of decline. In general, consumption, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 with an increase of X% year-to-year. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X; afterwards, it flattened through to 2020.

Exports from Turkey

T-shirt exports from Turkey contracted remarkably to X units in 2020, with a decrease of -X% compared with 2019. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports attained the maximum at X units in 2019, and then reduced sharply in the following year.

In value terms, t-shirt exports contracted rapidly to $X in 2020. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Germany (X units), the UK (X units) and Spain (X units) were the main destinations of t-shirt exports from Turkey, together accounting for X% of total exports. Iraq, the Netherlands, France, Israel, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Algeria, Denmark, Ukraine and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Iraq, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for t-shirt exported from Turkey were Germany ($X), the UK ($X) and Spain ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. The Netherlands, France, Italy, Denmark, Iraq, Israel, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Ukraine and Algeria lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X terms of the main countries of destination, Kazakhstan saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average t-shirt export price stood at $X per unit in 2020, rising by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2009 an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. from 2010 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Algeria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2020, supplies from abroad of t-shirts increased by X% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, showed a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X units in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.
