Pyrotechnic Articles Exports

Exports from Turkey

In 2021, shipments abroad of signalling flares, rain rockets, fog signals and other pyrotechnic articles increased by 308% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 5,089% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, pyrotechnic articles exports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 31,149%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Poland (X tons) was the main destination for pyrotechnic articles exports from Turkey, accounting for a 69% share of total exports. Moreover, pyrotechnic articles exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Colombia (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Oman (X kg), with a 5.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Poland was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (0.0% per year) and Oman (+381.0% per year).

In value terms, Poland ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for signalling flares, rain rockets, fog signals and other pyrotechnic articles exports from Turkey, comprising 63% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Colombia ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Oman, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Poland was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Colombia (0.0% per year) and Oman (+245.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average pyrotechnic articles export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -32.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 551%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Georgia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Georgia (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Turkey

Pyrotechnic articles imports into Turkey dropped sharply to X tons in 2021, which is down by -61.8% compared with 2020. Overall, imports, however, showed a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 73%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, pyrotechnic articles imports dropped markedly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 80%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Germany (X tons), South Africa (X tons) and Sweden (X tons) were the main suppliers of pyrotechnic articles imports to Turkey, together accounting for 80% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for South Africa (with a CAGR of +28.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of signalling flares, rain rockets, fog signals and other pyrotechnic articles to Turkey, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Sweden ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with a 7.4% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Germany totaled +6.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Sweden (-9.9% per year) and Italy (-8.7% per year).

The average pyrotechnic articles import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 80% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 89%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
