Preserved Peas Market Size in Turkey

In 2020, the Turkish preserved peas market increased by X% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after seven years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, recorded a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the market value increased by X% against the previous year. Preserved peas consumption peaked at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, consumption failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, preserved peas production dropped to $X in 2020 estimated in export prices. Over the period under review, production saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Preserved peas production peaked at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, production failed to regain the momentum.

Exports from Turkey

In 2020, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of preserved peas, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. Overall, exports showed a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2019, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, preserved peas exports shrank rapidly to $X in 2020. In general, exports saw a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

Gambia (X tonnes) was the main destination for preserved peas exports from Turkey, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, preserved peas exports to Gambia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Iraq (X tonnes), threefold. Syrian Arab Republic (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Gambia amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Iraq (+X% per year) and Syrian Arab Republic (+X% per year).

In value terms, Gambia ($X) remains the key foreign market for preserved peas exports from Turkey, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Iraq ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Syrian Arab Republic, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Gambia amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Iraq (+X% per year) and Syrian Arab Republic (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average preserved peas export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, rising by X% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated measured growth from 2007 to 2020: its price increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last thirteen years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per tonne in 2013; afterwards, it flattened through to 2020.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Turkmenistan ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Preserved Peas Imports

Imports into Turkey

Preserved peas imports into Turkey skyrocketed to X tonnes in 2020, jumping by X% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, imports posted a prominent increase. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, preserved peas imports surged to $X in 2020. In general, imports enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2012 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2020 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

In 2020, Greece (X tonnes) constituted the largest preserved peas supplier to Turkey, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, preserved peas imports from Greece exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tonnes), fourfold. Poland (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume from Greece amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+X% per year) and Poland (+X% per year).

In value terms, Greece ($X) constituted the largest supplier of preserved peas to Turkey, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the Netherlands ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Spain, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value from Greece totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+X% per year) and Spain (+X% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average preserved peas import price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, reducing by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 when the average import price increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per tonne in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per tonne), while the price for Romania ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
