Plywood Market Size in Turkey

In 2020, after five years of decline, there was significant growth in the Turkish plywood market, when its value increased by X% to $X. Overall, consumption, however, saw a pronounced decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2011 with an increase of X% against the previous year. After four years of growth, overseas shipments of plywood decreased by -X% to X cubic meters in 2020. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a tangible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, exports reached the peak of X cubic meters, and then contracted notably in the following year.

In value terms, plywood exports declined rapidly to $X in 2020. In general, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, exports reached the peak of $X, and then reduced notably in the following year.

Exports by Country

Iraq (X cubic meters) was the main destination for plywood exports from Turkey, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, plywood exports to Iraq exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Morocco (X cubic meters), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Romania (X cubic meters), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Iraq stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Morocco (+X% per year) and Romania (+X% per year).

In value terms, Iraq ($X) remains the key foreign market for plywood exports from Turkey, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Romania ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Morocco, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Iraq amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Romania (+X% per year) and Morocco (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average plywood export price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2020, which is down by -X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per cubic meter. from 2009 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices failed to regain the momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Bulgaria ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Australia ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Syrian Arab Republic, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Turkey

After five years of decline, purchases abroad of plywood increased by X% to X cubic meters in 2020. In general, imports, however, showed a pronounced setback. Imports peaked at X cubic meters in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, plywood imports skyrocketed to $X in 2020. Overall, imports, however, saw a pronounced curtailment. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.

Latvia (X cubic meters), Russia (X cubic meters) and Finland (X cubic meters) were the main suppliers of plywood imports to Turkey, together accounting for X% of total imports.
