In 2022, shipments abroad of plastics tubes, pipes and hoses, and fitting decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a four-year rising trend. Overall, exports showed a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic pipe and hose exports rose to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Iraq (X tons) was the main destination for plastic pipe and hose exports from Turkey, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, plastic pipe and hose exports to Iraq exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Romania (X tons), sixfold. Georgia (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Iraq amounted to X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Romania (X% per year) and Georgia (X% per year).

In value terms, Iraq ($X) remains the key foreign market for plastics tubes, pipes and hoses, and fitting exports from Turkey, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Romania ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Russia, with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Iraq amounted to X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Romania (X% per year) and Russia (X% per year).

In 2022, the average plastic pipe and hose export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by X% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by X%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Syrian Arab Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2012 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then declined in the following year.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2018 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Italy (X tons), China (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of plastic pipe and hose imports to Turkey, with a combined X% share of total imports. Israel, Spain, Turkmenistan, Denmark, Iran, the UK, the United States, the Czech Republic, India and France lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Turkmenistan (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
