Green Peas Market Size in Turkey

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2008 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at X tonnes in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, green peas exports expanded modestly to $X in 2020. Overall, exports showed a modest expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Exports peaked at $X in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, exports failed to regain the momentum.

Exports by Country

Iraq (X tonnes), Senegal (X tonnes) and Afghanistan (X tonnes) were the main destinations of green peas exports from Turkey, together comprising X% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Senegal (+X% per year), while exports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Azerbaijan ($X) remains the key foreign market for green peas exports from Turkey, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Australia ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by France, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Azerbaijan stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Australia (+X% per year) and France (+X% per year).

The average green peas export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, waning by -X% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, average export prices reached the maximum at $X per tonne in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Azerbaijan ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Syrian Arab Republic ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Turkey

In 2020, purchases abroad of peas (green) increased by X% to X tonnes, rising for the ninth year in a row after four years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, imports failed to regain the momentum.
