Exports from Turkey

In 2022, overseas shipments of motorcycles, scooters and side-cars increased by X% to X units, rising for the third year in a row after three years of decline. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, motorcycle, scooter and side-car exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The Netherlands (X units), Romania (X units) and France (X units) were the main destinations of motorcycle, scooter and side-car exports from Turkey, together comprising X% of total exports.

After two years of growth, purchases abroad of motorcycles, scooters and side-cars decreased by X% to X units in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then reduced modestly in the following year.

In value terms, motorcycle, scooter and side-car imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of X%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest motorcycle, scooter and side-car supplier to Turkey, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, motorcycle, scooter and side-car imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Vietnam (X units), threefold. Italy (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (X% per year) and Italy (X% per year).

Import Prices by Country

Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
