From 2019 to 2020, the growth exports failed to regain the momentum.

In value terms, fish fat and oil exports surged to $X in 2020. Overall, exports saw a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2020, the growth exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Denmark (X tonnes) was the main destination for fish fat and oil exports from Turkey, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, fish fat and oil exports to Denmark exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Peru (X tonnes), threefold. Colombia (X tonnes) ranked third in terms of total exports with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Denmark amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Peru (-X% per year) and Colombia (+X% per year).

In value terms, Denmark ($X) remains the key foreign market for fish fat and oil exports from Turkey, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Peru ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Morocco, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value to Denmark totaled +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Peru (-X% per year) and Morocco (-X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2020, the average fish fat and oil export price amounted to $X per tonne, rising by X% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a mild descent. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2020, export prices failed to regain the momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2020, the highest prices were recorded for prices to Norway ($X per tonne) and Morocco ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Colombia ($X per tonne) and Denmark ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Morocco, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Turkey

In 2020, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of fish fats and oils, when their volume decreased by -X% to X tonnes. In general, imports, however, posted strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at X tonnes in 2019, and then fell significantly in the following year.

In value terms, fish fat and oil imports declined remarkably to $X in 2020. Overall, imports, however, saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at $X in 2019, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2020, Norway (X tonnes) constituted the largest fish fat and oil supplier to Turkey, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, fish fat and oil imports from Norway exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Chile (X tonnes), threefold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by Georgia (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume from Norway amounted to +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Chile (+X% per year) and Georgia (+X% per year).

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the highest prices were recorded for prices from Georgia ($X per tonne) and Mauritania ($X per tonne), while the price for Chile ($X per tonne) and Norway ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.
