Dried Onion Market Size in Turkey

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, exports hit record highs at X tonnes in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, dried onion exports reduced to $X in 2020. Overall, exports, however, saw a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Exports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Canada (X tonnes) was the main destination for dried onion exports from Turkey, with a X% share of total exports. Moreover, dried onion exports to Canada exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Tunisia (X tonnes), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by the U.S. (X tonnes), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Canada amounted to +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tunisia (+X% per year) and the U.S. (+X% per year).

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of value to Canada stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Tunisia (+X% per year) and the U.S. (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average dried onion export price stood at $X per tonne in 2020, with an increase of X% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a mild expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the average export price increased by X% y-o-y. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per tonne. from 2016 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices failed to regain the momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In 2020, the countries with the highest prices were Canada ($X per tonne) and the UK ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Cyprus ($X per tonne) and Iraq ($X per tonne) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iraq, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Turkey

In 2020, imports of dried onions into Turkey soared to X tonnes, increasing by X% on 2019 figures. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2020 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, dried onion imports surged to $X in 2020. In general, imports recorded a measured expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2010 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2020 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Imports by Country

India (X tonnes), China (X tonnes) and Spain (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of dried onion imports to Turkey, with a combined X% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Egypt and the U.S., which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the U.S., while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per tonne), while the price for China ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
