Cabbage Market Size in Turkey

Over the period under review, cabbage exports, however, continue to indicate remarkable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by X% year-to-year. In that year, cabbage exports reached their peak of X tonnes. From 2016 to 2018, the growth of cabbage exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, cabbage exports amounted to $X in 2018. Over the period under review, cabbage exports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. In that year, cabbage exports attained their peak of $X. From 2016 to 2018, the growth of cabbage exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Russia (X tonnes), Iraq (X tonnes) and Germany (X tonnes) were the main destinations of cabbage exports from Turkey, with a combined X% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Bulgaria, the UK, Free Zones, Austria, Romania, Cyprus, Poland, Saudi Arabia and Greece, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Poland (+X% per year), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Russia ($X), Germany ($X) and the UK ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for cabbage exported from Turkey worldwide, together comprising X% of total exports. These countries were followed by Poland, Iraq, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Saudi Arabia, Free Zones, Cyprus and Greece, which together accounted for a further X (+X% per year) experienced the highest rates of growth with regard to exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the last eleven-year period, while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the average cabbage export price amounted to $X per tonne, jumping by X% against the previous year. Overall, the cabbage export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2009 when the average export price increased by X% year-to-year. The export price peaked at $X per tonne in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2018, export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination; the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per tonne), while the average price for exports to Iraq ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cabbage Imports

Imports into Turkey

In 2018, the amount of cabbage and other brassicas imported into Turkey amounted to X tonnes, going up by X% against the previous year. Overall, cabbage imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic deduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. In that year, cabbage imports attained their peak of X tonnes. From 2016 to 2018, the growth of cabbage imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cabbage imports stood at $X in 2018. Overall, cabbage imports, however, continue to indicate a deep decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2009 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2018, imports failed to regain their momentum.

Imports by Country

Egypt (X tonnes), Iran (X tonnes) and China (X tonnes) were the main suppliers of cabbage imports to Turkey, with a combined X% share of total imports.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of imports, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by China, while the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, Egypt ($X) constituted the largest supplier of cabbage to Turkey, comprising X% of total cabbage imports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Iran ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Egypt totaled +X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Iran (-X% per year) and the Netherlands (-X% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2018, the average cabbage import price amounted to $X per tonne, going down by -X% against the previous year. Overall, the cabbage import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2009 an increase of X% against the previous year. In that year, the average import prices for cabbage and other brassicas attained their peak level of $X per tonne. From 2010 to 2018, the growth in terms of the average import prices for cabbage and other brassicas remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin; the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per tonne), while the price for China ($X per tonne) was amongst the lowest.
