Exports peaked at X cubic meters in 2019, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, preservative-treated rough wood exports fell modestly to $X in 2020. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% year-to-year. Exports peaked at $X in 2007; however, from 2008 to 2020, exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Ireland (X cubic meters) was the main destination for preservative-treated rough wood exports from the UK, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, preservative-treated rough wood exports to Ireland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the U.S. (X cubic meters), more than tenfold.

From 2007 to 2020, the average annual growth rate of volume to Ireland stood at -X%.

In value terms, Ireland ($X) remains the key foreign market for preservative-treated rough wood exports from the UK, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by the U.S. ($X), with a X% share of total exports.

Export Prices by Country

The average preservative-treated rough wood export price stood at $X per cubic meter in 2020, with an increase of X% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a temperate expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2011 an increase of X% y-o-y. As a result, export price attained the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2012 to 2020, the growth in terms of the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2020, the country with the highest price was the U.S. ($X per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Ireland stood at $X per cubic meter.

Imports into the UK

In 2020, supplies from abroad of preservative-treated rough wood increased by X% to X cubic meters, rising for the tenth consecutive year after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2020 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

In value terms, preservative-treated rough wood imports shrank to $X in 2020. In general, imports continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X% y-o-y. Imports peaked at $X in 2019, and then shrank in the following year.

Imports by Country

Latvia (X cubic meters), Sweden (X cubic meters) and Ireland (X cubic meters) were the main suppliers of preservative-treated rough wood imports to the UK, with a combined X% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Finland and Lithuania, which together accounted for a further X 2007 to 2020, the biggest increases were in Finland (+X% per year), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Latvia ($X), Ireland ($X) and Sweden ($X) were the largest preservative-treated rough wood suppliers to the UK, with a combined X% share of total imports. Finland and Lithuania lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X (+X% per year) saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2020, the average preservative-treated rough wood import price amounted to $X per cubic meter, declining by -X% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a pronounced contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012 when the average import price increased by X% year-to-year. The import price peaked at $X per cubic meter in 2008; however, from 2009 to 2020, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2020, the highest prices were recorded for prices from Ireland ($X per cubic meter) and Finland ($X per cubic meter), while the price for Sweden ($X per cubic meter) and Lithuania ($X per cubic meter) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
